Treasured Gift

This week my dear friend Lisa (store owner of Mia Cosa Bella) was very generous by giving me a nightstand that she isn't needing.

I am in the process of painting it white and it is going to go in my daughter's room. I just love it.

First Sowing of the Season

I wasn't planning on doing peas this year as they take up so much space. But when my daughter told me she would like some how could I resist? Not to mention I will do anything to encourage her to eat vegetables.

So yesterday I put the peas into the ground.

Here are some more found objects.

This is a dollhouse I bought at flea market for $12.

This is a dresser I bought at a garage sale for $50.

This is a mirror I bought at a garage sale for $5. I painted it white.

Found Objects

While I am waiting for the warmer weather to garden and scour garage sales, I am going to post some pictures of objects from around the house. None of these objects were bought at retail. They are either from garage and estate sales, classifieds, antique stores or given to me.

This is a picnic basket that I bought at an estate sale for $1.

This is another picnic basket that I bought at a garage sale for $5.

First Find of the Season

Yesterday, I was literally walking out the door to head to the gym when my phone rang. It was my dear friend Lori informing me that she just came from an estate sale where she bought some old books and magazines. Well of course an estate sale takes priority over the gym so I ran right over.

I arrived at 10:30 so things were picked over but I managed to find two items.

I bought this picture for a $1. I am going to paint the frame either black or white depending on which room it's going to go in.

And I bought this hot plate for a $1. Currently its resting against my window sill in the kitchen.

I am so ready for the garage sale season the begin!

This is a table I found at a garage sale for $5. You can't see it but there are little roses stenciled around the edge of the top. The dress was leftover from a previous recital where my daughter takes ballet. I paid $15 for it. The shelf was given to me.

This is a dresser I bought at an antique store. I bought this back in the day and I am embarrassed to have paid $150. I painted and distressed it and put starfish knobs on. It is one of my favorite pieces.

This is a pair of bunk beds I got at a garage sale for $15 (including sheets and pillows). The mother said that it was hers when she was a child and that now her kids are now too old for it. It's another one of my favorite pieces.

This is a kid's rocking chair I bought at a garage sale for $5.

This is a doll's high chair I bought at a garage sale for $3. I painted it.

This is a secretary's desk that I bought at a garage sale for $25. I was planning on recovering the seat and using the desk as a place to get on the computer. Unfortunately my son who is a toddler kept unplugging the cord so it now sits empty. It's also a little to fancy for me. I am planning on selling it at my next garage sale.

Here is table I bought at an antique store for $45. It has cherries painted on it. It seems perfect for a kitchen but it really doesn't go anywhere in my house. I am planning on selling it at my next garage sale.

Here is a bench that I bought at a garage sale for $30. I thought it was a little high for being at a garage sale but I really loved it.

These pails I got a garage sale for $3.

Below the pails I have a chest of drawers that were given to me by my mother.

Daylights Savings

Since it's Daylight Savings I thought it would be a good day to enter my first post. The extra hours of light and warmer weather makes me more than ready for Spring.

On Friday I hung up my new mirror. I bought it at Perch in Maplewood, NJ. It is handmade with beading on the edge. I am excited because I have been waiting since we moved in to get a mirror. It's outside of my shoestring budget but when you walk into the house it's the first thing you see I decided to splurge.

I also went outside and took some Before pictures of our house and garden. I saw some iris' starting to peek through. Unfortunately I didn't see many of my daffodils and I am hoping that a squirrel didn't eat the bulbs.
