HomeGoods and Garage Sale Finds

Last Saturday my dear friend Lori headed out to Summit for a yard sale. It was pretty sparse but I did pick up this bookshelf for $15 which I plan on painting. Lori ended up buying four chairs that she is planning on redoing.

Then we headed to HomeGoods and I found these wood signs for my kitchen for $5.00 and this Cafe sign for $12.99.

My First Pillows

When I couldn't find pillows with the right color to match my curtains I decided to try and attempt to make them myself. I went to Calico Corners and bought some really nice fabric. I am pretty happy with the results.

Found Object from Mother

This weekend my parents came up for a visit and brought me this mirror that was my grandmother's. The glass has been replaced but it has the original gold plated frame. The mirror is from the 1940's and I just love it. I was looking for a mirror so I was thrilled to get one with a history.

Found Object at HomeGoods

I have been looking for a painting to go over my fireplace for sometime. After I returned something to HomeGoods I went tooling around the store. As I turned the corner this painting was staring right at me. It's a pretty common wine advertisement but it goes PERFECTLY in my living room. And for $40 I couldn't beat the price and I could always buy an original painting later on.

Found Objects in the Bedroom

While I am waiting for the warmer weather to garden and scour garage sales, I am going to post some pictures of objects from around the house. None of these objects were bought at retail. They are either from garage and estate sales, classifieds, antique stores or given to me.

One of my favorite purchases! I bought this Pottery Barn Thomasville set from the classifieds for $500. I always envisioned my bedroom with a white iron bed and antique furniture. But for $500 I couldn't beat it right now.

I found this coffee table on the side of the road. I painted it white and using it as a bench.

This bench I picked up at a garage sale for $15. I painted it white. I just bought some fabric to recover it off eBay. I will post pictures when I am done.

Another one of my favorite purchases. I bought this mirrored door at a garage sale for $20.

I bought this window for $1 at a yard sale. I painted it white. The lamp was given to my by my mother.

This rocking chair was given to my by my mother.

Treasured Gift

This week my dear friend Lisa (store owner of Mia Cosa Bella) was very generous by giving me a nightstand that she isn't needing.

I am in the process of painting it white and it is going to go in my daughter's room. I just love it.

First Sowing of the Season

I wasn't planning on doing peas this year as they take up so much space. But when my daughter told me she would like some how could I resist? Not to mention I will do anything to encourage her to eat vegetables.

So yesterday I put the peas into the ground.

Here are some more found objects.

This is a dollhouse I bought at flea market for $12.

This is a dresser I bought at a garage sale for $50.

This is a mirror I bought at a garage sale for $5. I painted it white.

First Find of the Season

Yesterday, I was literally walking out the door to head to the gym when my phone rang. It was my dear friend Lori informing me that she just came from an estate sale where she bought some old books and magazines. Well of course an estate sale takes priority over the gym so I ran right over.

I arrived at 10:30 so things were picked over but I managed to find two items.

I bought this picture for a $1. I am going to paint the frame either black or white depending on which room it's going to go in.

And I bought this hot plate for a $1. Currently its resting against my window sill in the kitchen.

I am so ready for the garage sale season the begin!
